Moving with Pets – A Quick How-to Guide
‘Pets are not our whole life, but they make our life whole.’ For pet owners, that quote will ring true. Whether it’s the companionship of a canine chum or the purring of a feline friend, pets add something extraordinary to our lives.
And that’s why we’ve come up with this simple four-point guide so you can ensure they are considered when you’re moving home.
1) Moving day matters
Moving day can be pretty stressful for everyone, especially pets. If possible, arrange for your pets to go to a friend, family member, or day care facility. If that’s not an option, dedicate one room in your home where they can be safe and sound while you move things out.
2) Welcome home again
The above applies to your new place. Make the room or space you are putting your pets in while the move is happening as quiet, calm, and comfortable as possible. Make sure they have a familiar toy or blanket.
3) Keep it routine
When you’re in your new place, ensure feeding times remain the same as before. This helps
settle your pets.
4) Cats all folks
A final tip is to keep cats inside for a few days first while they get used to their new surroundings. Our feline companions tend to find moving more stressful than dogs.
