Most people in the UK get on with their neighbours or can at least tolerate them.
We thought we’d look at some of the reasons people love their neighbours.
And it’s worth remembering that many home seekers will pay a premium of between 1% and 3% over the asking price to buy a home with good neighbours.*
Here are five things people have said they like/love about their neighbours.**
1) They look out for each other. This includes taking in deliveries when no one is home.
2) They are kind, caring, and respectful.
3) They respect the neighbourhood by keeping communal areas and gardens tidy.
4) They park sensibly and thoughtfully.
5) They talk to each other and are on first-name terms.
A good estate agent will ask you what the neighbours are like.
And if your relationship with them is good, they’ll include this as one of the property’s plus points.
So why not show your neighbours some love!
You don’t need to buy them flowers (that might come across as a little weird), just a cheery ‘good morning’ or putting their bins out or back could be a nice way to show you value them as much as a prospective buyer does.
