Even better, our very own Ash and James will be among those lacing up their shoes and hitting the starting line—proving that we don’t just serve our community, we run with it!
Why the Retford Half Marathon is a Must-See (or Must-Run!)
Historic Yet Evolving: With roots in UK Athletics, this half marathon has become a go-to fixture for both seasoned racers and new runners looking to push their limits.
Growing Popularity: This year’s participant cap is 1,400, meaning even more competition, camaraderie, and community spirit.
Prime Location: The race starts and finishes at Retford Oaks Academy (Babworth Road), where runners and supporters alike can take advantage of top-notch facilities—indoor changing areas, on-site parking, portable toilets, and plenty of refreshments.

Registration: Opens at 7:30 AM, with chip timing for Half Marathon runners
Age Limit: 17+ for the Half Marathon; no minimum age for the Fun Run (under 10s must be accompanied by an adult)

The re-measured 2024 route meanders through Retford’s edges and rural roads, offering a pleasant, mostly flat terrain—perfect for setting a personal best or simply enjoying the English countryside.

Top Finishers: Trophies for the first three men and women, plus category trophies for veterans
Mementos: Commemorative medals for all Half Marathon finishers and an optional event T-shirt available for purchase
Chip Timing: Perfect for competitive runners chasing a new record
Notts County Champs

Family Fun Run: 2km of Smiles and Sunshine
If you’re looking to include the entire family in the fun—or simply want a shorter course—join the Family Fun Run at 10:15 AM. This 2km challenge costs £3, with medals for all finishers and prizes for the first three under-17 finishers. It’s a fantastic way to stay active, soak up the race-day atmosphere, and encourage a love of fitness in younger participants.

Two of our very own, Ash and James, will be out on the course representing Nicholsons Estate Agents and the local community. They’ve been training hard and are excited to take on this challenge. Top Tips for a Successful Race Day
Arrive Early: Aim for 7:30 AM to find parking, pick up your race bib, and warm up without rushing.
Dress for the Weather: March can be unpredictable—layer up so you can adapt to changing conditions.
Stay Hydrated: Bring your own water bottle or use the race’s hydration stations.
